Dr. Gerda Govine is CEO of G. Govine Consulting a management firm that specializes in three areas: (1) designing and implementing training in organizational diversity, (2) providing litigation consultation, expert witness and investigation services in employment discrimination cases, and (3) program and project administration and facilitation.  She provides consulting services to  private and public organizations principally in southern and northern California, and in other states.  Her client list includes Walt Disney, Farmers Insurance, Denny’s Restaurants, Lawry’s Foods, Mexican-American Legal Defense Fund (MALDEF), Huntington Memorial Hospital, City of Pasadena, County of San Diego, NASA, California State University Los Angeles, and Pasadena City College.  Law firm clients include Littler Mendelson, Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, Pringle Decker & Armaro, Luce and Forward, Davis Wright Tremaine L.L.P., Joe C. Hopkins, and Solomon, Saltsman & Jamieson.  Dr. Govine was the producer and host of EBONY ‘2000, a weekly talk show on KPCC, 89.3, National Public Radio from January 1985 to March 2000, and is the host and producer of As We Speak, a live call-in talk show on Pasadena Community Access Corporation (PCAC), channel 56.  She is the author of, Laying the Foundation: An Employer’s Guide to Developing an Effective Diversity Program, a columnist for The Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley Journal Newspaper, a  contributing writer for Business Life Magazine, and PIHRA Scope magazine.

In July 1996, Dr. Govine was interviewed about “Race Discrimination in the Workplace” on NewsTalk Television, a national  interactive talk channel which explores the news of the day.  In July of 1995, she provided her expertise in race relations in the workplace on NBC Nightly News anchored by Tom Brokaw in a segment entitled “Black, White and Angry.”  She was the moderator for a Pasadena Town Hall Meeting on race relations in 1992. Dr. Govine made presentations focusing on diversity issues in the workplace, for example, to UCLA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, The National Diversity Conference, Women in Business, Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women conferences, California Association of Non-Profits, Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, Professionals In Human Resources Association District Meetings and annual conference, and the J. Paul Getty Museum.

She is the recipient of the Mary Lampsa Award from the Commission on the Status of Women for her support of issues and programs impacting women.  In 1994, Dr. Govine was selected  to participate in the Leadership California’s  year-long program involving sixty (60) professional women focusing on issues affecting California’s

Dr. Govine held the following positions in government and education: Executive  Director, Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women; Dean of Continuing Education, Pace University, New York City; and National Director of Education for the NAACP.  She earned her Doctorate and Masters degrees in Higher and Adult Education from Columbia University in New York.  Her Bachelors and first Masters degrees are in Business Education from New York University.

Board memberships include: President, Friends of the Pasadena Commission on the Status of Women, California Women’s Law Center, Women At Work, Leadership Pasadena, and Chair-Elect, Pasadena Chamber of Commerce. Some committees include: Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund Second Annual Golf Tournament, PIHRA and SHRM.
